What’s in Season?
Michigan Blueberries

Blueberries are one of my “superfoods.” They are one of the most antioxidant rich fruits, also nutrient dense, and taste great. They are easy to freeze, perfect for snacking, or easy to add to other dishes like oatmeal, cereal, muffins, and pancakes. One of the nice things about blueberries is that they are not on the Dirty Dozen list, so if you can’t find organic at the grocery store, you can buy non-organic without worrying too much about pesticides. Local farmer’s markets should have fresh blueberries in the late summer. If you can’t find them or they are too expensive, try frozen. Costo usually has frozen wild or organic blueberries at a good price. Frozen blueberries are also great for snacking! The recipe above is so easy and perfect for a grab and go snack. Not only do you get the nutrients in the berries, but it has all the right macronutrients (proteins, fats, carbohydrates.). Better yet, there is no white flour or sugar!
